Longmont Baseball League

Board of Directors Meeting Notes

January 9, 2009

 

The Board of Directors meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m.

 

Members present:   OJ Pratt, Michael Lotz, Don Palinckx, Ted Burris, Bill Farrell, Lola Hamby, Steve Hamby, Kevin Schrenk, Dan Balli, Lorri Vandiver and Chris Wing

 

 

New Business:

 

Vote for new board members. Bobby Martinez and Amber Burtis.

Motion was made to accept the above applicants for membership in LBL by Dan Balli, and seconded by Lola Hamby.   Some discussion and the motion passed.

 

Background checks:

Lorri reports that the Longmont Baseball League is providing:

·          Three (3) background checks for all Longmont competitive teams (AAA & AA).

·          One (1) background check of all out-of-town competitive teams.

·          TBD for Recreation teams.

 

League Secretary:

Don Palinckx has volunteered to be the league Secretary and the board approved.

 

Training Funds for Competitive teams:

Ted Burris made the motion that LBL retain the winter training fund for an additional year. This fund is to be used only by full Longmont competitive teams. Steve Hamby seconded and the motions passed.

 

Discussion of web site access needs, Mike Lotz:

Lorri gave a quick overview on how to access the web site and how to navigate through it.

 

Scholarship:

OJ received a letter from a Mrs. Messinger requesting:   Longmont Baseball League to select a player yearly for a 200.00 scholarship.   After some discussion the board decided to accept Mrs. Messinger proposal and select a player in March.  

 

 

 

 

Old Business:  

 

Building update, 100 10th Ave., Tour of building:

OJ provided the board a tour of the building

 

Discussion of needs, in order, to update building and their related costs.  Establish a budget to begin repairs.   Project Manager? Time Line?

A motion was made to provide $20K to repair of the building by Kevin Schrenk, and seconded by Dan Balli.   Items that were discussed are (priority order):

·          Storage Tank -   Seal the tank and leave as is.

·          General Cleaning

·          Remove extra office from the high bay

·          Roof

·          Lighting – Bill to provide additional information on material

·          Paint all interior surfaces and external as required

·          Heating

·          Doors

·          Restroom – Handicap accessible

·          Demolish and remove the shed located on the South side of the building – Volunteers  

 

OJ volunteered to Project Manage this project.
